The Christmas markets closed on friday 21st despite the complaints of the stall owners. Manchester City Council ordered them to close so they could prepare for New Years Eve.

I visited Slovakia for the first time this week as I made plans to have some dental work done over there as its very expensive fpr private dentistry over here in the UK and nearly impossible to get an NHS dentist. The work was done in a town called Piestany, about 45 mins from the capital Bratislava.

I will show you the before and after shots of my mouth once I get the work completed.

Last minute deals can be good. This was our trip to New york.

Travel wise it was very messy. Delayed in Manchester for 4 hours which meant we missed the connecting flight. They rebooked us on the next available flight which was 3 hours later. It was cancelled 10 minutes before boarding and we were given ground transportation another 2 hours later.

Arrived in New York 11 hours late.

Living in Manchester has made me realise how tiny Kirkwall is in comparison. Still it was a great place to grow up and its where my parents are, so its always gonna be called Home to me.

I was browsing through photos on my flickr account the other day and did a search for "Orkney" in the pics from other people.
Here we have county show day last year. My parents live very close to this park and growing up I spent many days in the summer with the rest of the family playing badminton and a few other sports.

I had forgotten how you can always see the sea there, unlike manchester where I am now, you have to travel for a few hours to get to the coastline.

Another festive season over with and into the new year. This year I had less time off after New Years day. Went back to work to a full week and hardly any time to think.

Targets for this year:

• Move into a place out of the city
• Save up some money for a few trips overseas.
• Think about getting a car.
• Maybe lose some weight.

We have recently moved to Skyline Central just on the northern edge of the city. why? you ask. Well more space, another bedroom, more facilities including a swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzis and 2 gyms. Pics will be uploaded soon.
